Marine Cargo Insurance Surveys
Marine Surveyors Cayman can provide pre-shipment and post-shipment (arrival) cargo insurance surveys to independently document the condition and storage of your cargo shipments so that there are simply no arguments in case of damage/loss claims.
These pre-shipment and post-shipment cargo insurance surveys can be expanded to “operational surveys to verify that equipment being shipped is operational at departure point and arrival point.
In cases of damage or loss, we work to protect our client within the limits of the cargo insurance policy, in adherence to the ethical standards we are known for. Cargo Insurance Surveys before shipment can greatly simplify claims when things go wrong!
As the Lloyd’s agent for the Cayman Islands, we are routinely audited and our files inspected to insure our Marine Insurance Surveys are in compliance with Lloyd’s Agency Standards.

Industrial Surveys, Shipping, and More…

Industrial Surveys for the shipping industry focus on containers, containerized tanks, flat racks and other industrial equipment used for storing and loading a variety of cargo.
The integrity of lifting points, framing, and stiffeners, as well as water-tight seals are critical in preventing accidents and damage to cargo. Water infiltration can ruin cargo, and failure of a structural component, whether during a lift, or while in transit lashed to other containers can have catastrophic results.
Using ultrasonic measuring tools and other technology, Marine Surveyors Cayman can accurately measure thickness of steel components to determine whether manufacturer’s “wastage” limits have been reached.
Marine Surveyors Cayman also examines hatch and door seals, decking, piping, valves and other accessories to insure the integrity of the equipment.
Shipping Container Certificates
If you have purchased a used shipping container and plan on shipping it overseas, check with your shipping agent as you may need a Marine Survey inspection of your container. Marine Surveyors Cayman can inspect your used container to ensure it is safe for shipping. We can also provide ‘Tank Container Cleaning Certificates’
Heavy Lift Operations
Heavy Lifts require special procedures and calculations for safely handling out-sized cargos and equipment.
Such cargo can be generating or mining equipment as well as superyachts which sometimes requires the use of “Tandem Lifts” (using two cranes together to safely handle the extreme weight and dimensions).
Insurance companies and shipping lines will require a marine surveyor to document and verify that all preparations have been accurately accomplished to insure there is minimal risk in “Heavy Lift” operations.
Marine Surveyors Cayman has experience in “Heavy Lift” operations and is ready to assist you with your project.
